DIF – Dermal Injection Free

Dermal Injection Free, or Mesoporation, is a new system for transdermal drug or treatment product delivery into the body without using a needle.

What is Mesoporation?

Transdermal drug delivery is based on skin absorption. To efficiently bypass the dermis, the layer below the outer epidermis, dermatologists generally use a needle, which can damage this layer. So, who would want many injections in his or her face?

The good news is now drugs and treatment products can be delivered below the dermis by Mesoporation, a needle–free technique.

How does Mesoporation work?

Mesoporation uses specific electric current to temporarily open the dermis, creating tiny passageways. Once these are opened, a drug or treatment product can be safely delivered deeper into the skin. Just after the electroporesive action, a cooling device is applied to close the electropores, increasing Mesoporation effectiveness.

What are the benefits of Mesoporation?

Lack of pain or visible sign of treatment
Patients can return to normal activities immediately
Boosts transdermal delivery at depths never reached before, from 1 mm. to 10 cm.
Large amount of drug or active substance can penetrate through skin
As effective as conventional drug delivery systems.i.e., Iontophoresis, Phonophoresis.

When is Mesoporation effective?

To treat hyperpigmentation, freckles and melasma by delivering drug to the melanocytes to block melanin production
To treat cellulite, especially on larger areas, i.e. abdomen, buttock and thigh
To treat hair loss by delivering hair growth product

Name change

First called Electroporation because of the use of an electric current to create channels through cellular membrane, or Electropores, the therapy became known as “Mesoporation” or “Dermal Injection Free” depending on whether it is deployed as “unconventional mesotherapy” or “needle free treatment”.
